NASCAR Sprint All-Star Challenge Tickets
Lowes Motor Speedway Facts:
The NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge is one of the biggest racing events in the country. The longest and, some drivers claim, most grueling event on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit. Built more than four decades ago, the Lowes Motor Speedway is the largest sports facility in the Southeast with 167,000 permanent seats. Lowes was built in 1959 by Burton Smith. The track was built on the outskirts of the Queen City and on June 19, 1960 the first World 600 was run at the new facility. The race was won by Joe Lee Johnson. Since then the track has had lights put in for racing at night and condos have been built of turn 1. While you are there at Lowes you may always visit the Feel the Thrill Tour which includes a view of the areas that are off limits on race days. You will also experience the 24-degree banking while cruising around the track in a comfortable van. This tour is available on non race days. |
